The North Carolina State Chapter is sponsoring its second annual outreach print contest. The outreach print will be included in all of the 2013 NC NWTF Hunting Heritage banquets. The proceeds from the sale of these prints will go towards the NWTF outreach programs. These include Jakes, Women in the Outdoors, and Wheelin Sportsman programs.
We would like for North Carolina resident artist to present an original painting to us. All entries will be displayed at the 2012 Dixie Deer Classic in Raleigh NC. They will be judged by a panel of 3 judges who will narrow the field of entries to the top 3. The general public will get to vote on the top 3, the winning entry will be based on a people’s choice vote. The winning entry will be announced on Sunday afternoon.
The winning artist will receive $1500 and 15 prints. The NC State chapter will retain the original artwork and all rights to the work. The edition size will be limited to 125 prints. 25 artist proofs and 100 prints. The state chapter will retain prints 1-85 and the winning artists will receive the remaining 15 prints. The winning artist will be asked to judge the following years contest and will be recognized at the following years State Awards banquet.
The State chapter will be responsible for the printer and the artist will have control of proofing the prints, If travel permits. The winning artist will be asked to sign all prints.
Contest rules:
1. Artist must be a NC resident.
2. Artist must submit one piece of original artwork with an artist biography. The entry cannot be entered if it has been entered into another contest. This bio will accompany each print to the banquets.
3. The subject can be anything related to or pertaining to the wild turkey or turkey hunting.
4. The print size must be 16H x 20W. The entry can be done on 1/8” hard board or canvas. Hardboard is preferred for durability and ease of matting.
5. All entries submitted MUST NOT be Framed or signed.
6. Return shipping and Insurance is the responsibility of the Artist. Please include a return shipping label in the original shipping carton. If not it is the responsibility of the artist to pick up the print after the contest. We cannot be responsible for damage to prints during shipping!
7. Winning artist will be limited to winning once every 2 years. The winning artist will be asked to return as a judge for the next year’s contest if they choose to.
8. There will be a $ 40 entry fee
9. Deadline for entries must be postmarked by Feb. 24th 2012.
